Easy Turkey Meatloaf
Want a crowd pleaser with little muss or fuss? A weeknight meal that will make excellent left overs for lunches and even the next evening’s dinner? My Easy Turkey Meatloaf is always a hit in our house and tastes even better the next day. I’d say it ranks up there with my Greek Lemon and Garlic Roast Chicken and Potatoes as the kids’ favorite food! Follow along and I’ll show you how to make easy turkey meatloaf!
I used to always make meatloaf with ground beef or meatloaf mix (a combination of ground beef, lamb, and pork). And while I personally loved the taste, it wasn’t a huge hit with the kids. When I switched to Easy Turkey Meatloaf, I found that it quickly became a hit with all four of my kids and is now in the rotation of weeknight meals in our house. I think it’s the sweeter taste of the the turkey that they love.
Easy Turkey Meatloaf Ingredients:
Serves 12
3 lbs. 85% Lean Ground Turkey
1/2 Sweet Yellow Onion, Grated
2 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp. Dried Oregano
1 Tbsp. Ketchup
1 Tbsp. Salt
1/2 Tbsp. Pepper
Easy Turkey Meatloaf Instructions:
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, combine all of your ingredients in a large mixing bowl, making sure to mix well. I use a large plastic container for this step, since it makes it super easy to get to all the ingredients.
Next, in a large flat baking plan lined with foil, turn out the turkey meatloaf mixture and shape it into a large loaf shape. Some people use a loaf pan, but I find that with this larger amount of meat (3 lbs), a flat baking pan works perfectly.
Place your Turkey Meatloaf into the center of the oven and set a 50 minute timer. The meatloaf is ready when an internal thermometer reaches 160 degrees. If it’s not quite there, check again every five minutes. (Mine is usually ready at 55 minutes).
If you want your main dish and sides to be finished at the same time. Start your broccoli to steam when you have about 15 minutes left of cooking time on your oven timer (20 minutes if you are making rice). Then you’re guaranteed to have all of your food ready at the same time.
